Tuesday Morning Quarterback by Brian Kallio

Fantasy Stud: Matt Schaub and Jahvid Best

Fantasy Dud: Chris Johnson

Fantasy Douche: Houston’s offensive coordinator.  Thank you for handing the ball to Foster 17 times while allowing Schaub to throw for 500 yards.  Did you forget Foster had 200 yards last week??  Ride the train, you’re a douche.

Special Shout Out Douche: The Washington defensive backs for their lack of coverage.  You’re all douches.

Kiss The Baby (teams or player whose season is close to or appears to be over): Minnesota, Dallas and all of the involved players.  Get to getting’.

Shout Outs: Mike Vick.  Congrats on beating the Lions (it’s ok, lions are cats not dogs.)  And the coach of Michigan State.  Your decision to fake a field goal down by 3 in South Bend is one for the history books.  My hat goes off to you.

It may only be two weeks into the season, but for you Houston Texan fans life is good right now.  Last week it was Mr. Practice Squad, Arian Foster, and this week Matt Schaub.  For you fantasy footballers, either owners of Matt Schaub or you poor fools who had to play against him, his 45 points were bitter sweet, just like the candy.  I fortunately didn’t have to play Schaub, but I did unfortunately have to play Andre Johnson.  26 points from a receiver, sweet.  Thank you to the defensive backs in Washington for taking week 2 off.  Back to things bitter and sweet, I introduce Michael Turner and Jahvid Best. Turner, the bitter, was selected in most fantasy leagues in the 1st round, but has yet to prove his 1st round selection.  His backup, on the other hand, proved Sunday that the problem was not the offensive line as he ran for over 100 yards with a rushing and receiving touchdown.  Now onto the sweet, Jahvid Best.  A rookie for the Lions, and most likely a late round selection in most fantasy leagues, has blossomed like a spring flower so far this season.  He has scored 5 touchdowns in two weeks including 3 this past week along with 78 rushing yards and 154 receiving yards.  Did you hear that Minnesota and Dallas???  Jahvid Best has more offensive stats in one week than each of your teams have so far this season.  But winning isn’t all about scoring as the Steelers have proven.  Two weeks in and already on their 3rd quarterback the Steelers are 2-0.  They held Matt Ryan, Michael Turner and the Falcons to 9 points in week 1 and then followed that up by traveling to Tennessee and shutting down the #1 fantasy player and self proclaimed best running back, Chris Johnson and his Tennessee Titans.  Johnson ran for 34 yards. This from a guy who ran for 2,000 yards last season and seemed to break 100 yards rushing week after week.  Besides learning that the Texans are a fantasy juggernaut and the Steelers are a brick wall of defense, it’s obviously apparent that there is no dominant team within the NFL this season.  At least, as of yet. The Vikings, Colts, Cowboys, Patriots and Jets were all predicted to be the “top” teams this season.  The Colts, Pats and Jets have each had weeks where they were at the top of the mountain only to fall to the bottom, with the Vikings and Cowboys having yet to reach said mountain (winless).  While the “bottom feeders”, the Chiefs, Buccaneers, Seahawks, Redskins, Bears and Dolphins all lead their divisions.  Go figure.
